By now I assume everyone has heard of the rice water rinse. You take the rice of your choosing, soak it in water for 24-48 hours, spray it on your hair during wash day and BOOM! Your hair magically will grow and flourish within a few short weeks.
Well I’ve been putting it to the test. I started last week with the basic recipe I’ve seen floating around social media:
1 cup rice
2 cups water
Essential oil of your choice (I used lavender)
I sprayed it on my freshly shampooed hair, put my deep conditioner on top and left it for about 20 minutes before rinsing. There were plenty of pros and cons (we will discuss that in the next post) but this week I switched it up and I think I’m in love.
1/4 cup rice
1 cup boiling water
Peels of 1/2 an orange
I let it ferment for 48 hours, strained it and added 1 tbsp aloe vera gel. After shampooing I sectioned my hair and dried it as much as possible. I concentrated the rice water to my scalp and massaged it in. I added hot oil to my scalp and the TGIN Honey Miracle Hair Mask on top and detangle. Once my entire head was completed I let it sit for 30 minutes with my Thermal Haircare Hot Head.
Results...? I’m in love! It’s the perfect combination of strength and moisture. It didn’t take much effort to make the rice water, it didn’t add any time and my hair benefits so why not do it?!
Bonus tip *warm your hair mask for an added boost*
